James launches clean up operation

22nd February 2010

James Morris, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Halesowen and Rowley Regis, donned wellies and with the help of other Conservative social action volunteers cleared rubbish dumped in the River Stour at the bottom of Great Cornbow. Traffic cones, boards, televisions, beer cans and other items were all removed from the river during the clean up last Saturday lunch time.

James Morris said: 'Many local residents have complained to me about fly tipping, graffiti and littering which does so much to spoil the area. I was alerted to the amount of rubbish which was being dumped in the river and decided to take the matter into my own hands. With the help of other volunteers we were able to clear the bulk of the bigger items.'

James added: 'I want to encourage people to alert me to any areas where litter and flytipping is a problem and I will seek to take action to tackle the problem using our volunteer team. If you know of any problem areas please email cleanup@halesowenandrowleyregis.com
