    Blackheath Products Ltd on the Fairfield Park industrial estate

    Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris has praised the work of a long-standing local family-owned business after visiting their newly-expanded premises.

    The MP toured the Blackheath Products Ltd’s new 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility with Managing Director Ian Foster and spoke to employees about their work and their views on the local economy.

    The firm, which employs more than 100 people from its Fairfield Road base, was founded in the 1930s and has been run by Mr Foster’s family for five generations.  read more »

    Halesowen & Rowley Regis Apprenticeship and Skills Fair 2013

    Hundreds of apprenticeships and training places are expected to be up for grabs at an apprenticeship fair being organised by Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris.

    The MP is organising the first Halesowen & Rowley Regis Apprenticeship and Skills Fair on Friday 3rd May at the Zion Christian Centre.

    The event builds on the success of the Jobs Fair organised by James Morris last summer, which attracted 700 local jobseekers and had job vacancies and training opportunities from dozens of employers and training providers.  read more »

    Police joint online surgery with Inspector Massey

    James Morris is teaming up with the head of Rowley Regis' neighbourhood policing team, Ian Masssey, for the first joint online surgery in the West Midlands.

    On Tuesday 2 April Inspector Ian Massey is inviting the public to send him questions or raise any issues that affect them or their family as part of a live online web chat.

    Between 5:30pm and 7pm on Tuesday 2nd April, people are invited to put their questions - and concerns - to the pair on matters relating to local policing, crime and safety.

    James Morris

    Would-be Rory McIlroys are urged to pick up their clubs this Sunday to help raise money for a child’s cancer charity appeal.

    Halesowen resident Gareth Simpson is organising the charity day to raise money for the Joshua Battling Cancer fund in aid of the cancer ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

    The fund was set up by Joshua, an 8 year old patient at the hospital who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

    Joshua is raising money for Ward 15, the oncology ward, by making keyrings, toys and bracelets to sell on eBay.  read more »

    Youth Budget launch in the House of Commons with Lauren Randall of Windsor High School and Sixth Form in Halesowen

    James Morris, Member of Parliament for Halesowen and Rowley Regis, joined young people from across the country and the Chancellor of the Exchequer for the launch of the Youth Budget.

    The event, organised by the Citizenship Foundation, discussed proposals that young people would like the Chancellor to include in his Budget this week – ranging across health, education and training, crime and the economy.

    The Youth Budget was drawn up after a national vote amongst 14-18 year olds.  read more »
